Artwork Description

Bloom Rush came from a quiet, happy day.

It was one of those soft summer afternoons where everything feels calm. Birds were chirping outside, the sun was warm on the windows, and a light evening breeze kept moving through the room. Nothing special was happening — it was just a normal day that felt peaceful in the nicest way.
Later, when I sat down to paint, that feeling followed me. I didn’t plan the flowers or the colours. They arrived on the canvas the way small joys arrive in a day — gently, one after another. Pink for the soft light, yellow for the warm sun, green for the breeze, and bright colours for the little sparks of happiness that show up without warning.
I called it Bloom Rush because that’s what the moment felt like — a rush of simple, natural joy blooming all around me, even in the quiet.

Artist Bio

I’m Sonal Agarwal, the artist behind Abstract by Sonal, a Melbourne‑based studio built around one simple intention: to create art that brings joy. My practice is rooted in expressive colour, layered textures, and intuitive movement — all working together to spark happiness, warmth, and emotional uplift in the viewer.

My work often draws inspiration from botanical and coastal forms, but I never restrict myself to a single theme. Instead, I follow colour, energy, and intuition, allowing each piece to unfold naturally. Whether I’m exploring abstract botanicals or fluid organic shapes, my goal is always the same: to create artwork that radiates positivity and transforms the atmosphere of a space.

I work primarily with high‑quality acrylics and texture mediums, building depth and dimension that invite people to not just see the artwork, but feel it. Every layer is added with intention — to evoke movement, lightness, and a sense of emotional connection.

In 2025, I was honoured to be named a finalist in both the Feel Good Art Prize and the Revival Emerging Artist Award, milestones that reflect my evolving journey as a contemporary artist.

Through Abstract by Sonal, I continue to explore the limitless possibilities of colour and form, creating pieces that celebrate joy, imagination, and the simple pleasure of looking at something that makes you feel good.
