SONIA BEGLEY
Sonia’s work, best described as vivid abstraction, starts and ends with colour, poured on, teased, layered and textured, seeking to bring her lush tropical surrounds inside.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Sonia is a self taught mixed media artist typically working with acrylic paints and inks on canvas. She is currently residing with her family on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.
For Sonia painting is an expression of passion for her natural environs, the lush colours and shapes of the surrounding rainforests and coral reefs in her native NZ and Australia. She is always seeking to capture the essence of that on canvas in the vivid colours of nature, gaining her a strong following with collectors throughout the world. She is also influenced by the mark making of indigenous cultures throughout history and these marks also feature in many of her works.
