Instilling a timeless and classic quality in her artworks, Australasian artist Sonja Chisnall is influenced by both contemporary and traditional masters of realism and symbolism. She was always drawn to details from architecture to refined sketches, taking note from historic craftsmanship but with a contemporary vision.
Compelled to highlight details found in nature from lighting to texture and form, her art conveys reverence for nature, awe-inspired encounters with it and human expression with subjects of nature and portraiture comprising her work. Working with a variety of mediums, she selects the media which she feels best represents the subject matter in conveying the original feeling and vision that arises from the reference or idea.
