Hi, Im Sonia from Sonji Art Studio and thanks so much for your interest in my art.
I am a self taught artist based now on the sunny Gold Coast, QLD Australia. Born and raised in Sydney , I graduated in Fashion Design many many years ago (2000) before embarking on a fabulous career in costume design for film and television. Once I left the crazy film industry and became a mum I fell into social work, supporting those who struggle with mental health, often using art as therapy.
3 years ago I found myself picking up the pencil and sketching once again. It wasn't too long before I found myself immersed in painting and exploring many styles from portraits to abstract, simply having fun and finding my creative self, however it looked like.
Cut to the present day.
I feel my relentless dedication to develop my unique artistic voice has led me to this moment, my first collection.
A journey that began as a hobby, experimenting in my spare time, has now become such a passion I wish to do this everyday for ever!!
Having begun in fashion illustration, life drawing and textile art influences my art greatly. Im a lover of pattern and the female form, endless hours spent doodling, or drawing the female body. In this collection, I have used dot pattern to create my vision, acrylic and Posca pen bringing my work to life. You will find my work's theme varies, here you will find human form, landscape and still life.
I want to create art that is fun, feminine and beautiful.
I make art that I love to see.
I make art for me.
