Two Rays is a story that first started with an ocean adventure and an underwater film camera. Capturing the life found in the shallows of resting rays, turtles, fish and colourful weeds. There’s a whole different world that can only be seen under the surface. The photos showcased the contrasts of feathery weeds + hard rock edges and the soft inviting light against the dark shadows.
Inspired by the shapes and the pastel like colours captured, this created the inspiration behind Two Rays. On canvas, this has reflected as a contrast of materials; the natural pigment and acrylics, the contrast of chalky pastels and the dark olives. These paintings are a story of slowing down + appreciating the beauty that can be found everywhere.
