Artwork Description

Having lived in the UK for most of my life and travelled regularly to Cornwall, this area was my main muse for many years - and still holds a close place in my heart. For some reason St Ives was somewhere that I found deeply inspiring, not just the beautiful light over the harbour, but the different shapes of all those old wooden fishing boats.

I love blue and orange and have produced a lot of work over the years with these vibrant colours, so it seemed fit to use the same colour palette here. I like to choose colours that represent how I feel when I'm in a place and these tones some it up.

This will make a great centre piece to your key wall in any room, will light up the space and give you constant joy if you make this yours.

Artist Bio

I’m a semi abstract painter working mainly in acrylics on canvas. Originally from the UK, now living and creating in Perth. I absolutely adore colour; bright, bold and gorgeous colour.

My early work was inspired by the British seaside towns, with their quirky fishing villages, boats and harbours. I became well known for my semi abstract wonky style of paintings, a lot of which were in blues and oranges. Although I did branch out to a more neutral palette, I quickly reverted to those stronger colours. I also love to build up a lot of layers, so each painting has a real ‘history & story’ to it, and I’ll add texture with a palette knife and some rougher brushes.

Today I have fully reverted back to my long-time muse of contemporary coastal artwork of the UK; although I live and paint in Perth. I work from memories and some photographs and enjoy re-visiting the Uk for doses of new inspiration.

Here you will also see some paintings that have veered off my normal topic, some Florals & Still Lives and just 3 West Australian landscapes - all of which have a more similar feel to my sketchbooks than my true semi abstract work.

My aim is to offer you the viewer long-lasting inspiration through my colour choices, the movement in each piece and of course the real story and connection behind it.
