Artwork Description

This piece was such a joy to bring to life — a work birthed from deep vision and devoted to the wild pulse of creation itself.

Born from my most recent vision quest alongside the magical Karina Palomita and Gigi Amazonia, and held in the ancient majesty of the Bundawangs, this artwork pays homage to both realms — seen and unseen.

I spent long enchanted hours in the company of spiders, mesmerised as they wove their intricate webs, thread by shimmering thread. Each morning, as sunlight pierced the canopy, I’d leap from beneath my tarp just to witness the golden dew sparkle upon their silken creations.
Their craft — the great cosmic weave of life — stirred a reverence in my soul. These sacred “light webs” are honoured in the artwork through the ethereal whites dancing across its surface, speaking to connection, mystery, and the Master Weaver of all things.

“The Quest” is a celebration of Mumma Gaia herself — a tapestry of earth, humour, ceremony, wild devotion and pure joy.

May this heartwork light up your spirit, even for a moment.

Artist Bio

Sophie is a textile artist whose work is deeply rooted in the rhythms and beauty of the natural world. Working primarily with wool, she transforms raw, organic fibres into tactile artworks that celebrate the textures, colours, and forms found in nature.

Her creative process begins with the many natural inspired experiences and connections she's had—whether it’s the animals she's spent time with in nature, the deep silence she cultivates with the other, or the intricate patterns that mother nature provides. Through techniques such as punchneedling, weaving, and hand-stitching, she captures these impressions in pieces that invite touch as much as they invite contemplation.

Grounded in a deep respect for sustainable making, Sophie sources her materials ethically, often working with locally grown or naturally dyed fibres. Each piece becomes both an artistic expression and a quiet homage to the landscapes that inspire her.

When not in her studio, she can often be found exploring wild places, gathering both materials and ideas for her next creation.
