Old Leather Chair

Painted to depict an aged leather armchair in an aging room. The challenge was to make the leather look old. I am happy with the way the leather shines yet still looks worn together with the torn wallpaper and the scuffed skirting boards.

I paint because it gives me pleasure. I love to paint large‚ decorative pieces full of color. I have experimented with various subjects and styles including landscape‚ floral and portraiture but prefer to paint still life and abstracts all in acrylic. When painting a still life‚ my aim is to accurately represent the item I am painting‚ the brighter the better. I see my art as an integral part of interior design‚ blending with the room the painting is displayed in yet at the same time making a statement. I believe art should give you that “wow” moment when you first look at it and that is what I strive to do with every painting I produce.
