Highlighting the fun of bringing this street style inside the home. Looser with my painting of florals, letting the relaxed but beautiful nature of drips happen, as well as adding the element of paste-ups which I’ve used in past murals (paste ups: a tradition in street art often of black and white photocopies of original art, wheat pasted all over town in the dead of night). The collection title emphasizes the relevance of past events to the present moment- as seen in the “present perfect tense” in language. In adding the cheeky (im) before perfect I’m alluding to the intentional imperfections of these works; they are imperfect, but somehow it makes them better. The result is SO joyful, bright and unexpected; all the elements coming together to create something exciting, edgy and bold. Perfect, (im)perfect… and present in the here and now.
