I am an artist whose first known work was at three years of age filling in the floral motif of my mother's bed spread with her red nail polish.
Art supplies were bought with haste and efforts redirected with more constructive mediums and surfaces.
I studied art, technical drawing and photography in high school but left after year ten to start working.
From sixteen to nineteen years of age I commissioned portraits for friends and family that prompted a graduation from graphite pencil on paper to acrylic paint on canvas which led to me being invited to participate in a street exhibition.
I have always been very active and high energy so enjoyed physically demanding jobs until sustaining an injury that forced me to slow down, so returning to art has greatly helped with the transition.
Among many animal studies I am broadening my range and grouping my creations into series that study the lives and interests of others with a unique perspective.
I am inspired by nature so I love to put its inhabitants on a pedestal with my larger paintings, I have a very long to do list. My interest in photography has given me a plethora of reference photos to choose from, so stay tuned…
Watercolour is my favourite medium because of its blending applications and washes which help me to achieve the effects of both subtlety and boldness where needed and some subjects simply must be made to glow in the dark….
Please see Stacey Menz Watercolour Artist Facebook page for progression photos of paintings for sale and some of my many affordable commissioned works that I mount to wood panels and finish with epoxy resin. See Smenzart on instagram for videos of my glow in the dark pieces.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and have a creative day!
Stacey.
