A mantra is a numinous sound, a sacred utterance. Mantras don't have the narrative of prayers. They do not need to be attached to religious beliefs. Not do they project specific ideas. They are simply sound vibrations that potentially provide an opening towards peace and tranquillity. The simple, natural materials of this sculpture reflect the simplicity of the mantra. The work may inspire an observer to create a secret personal sound relating to material or shape. Your mantra stimulates and opens up some peaceful mind space when casually observing the sculpture during a busy day. This work combines twigs, copper wire, and beach pebbles mounted on a block of ironbark, suspended by the copper wire; the pebbles allure to a prayer wall, each one representing an imagined mantra. A very still, contemplative work.
