Artwork Description

This piece was created during a tender postpartum chapter, when time to create felt hard-won and sacred. “The Fate of All Things Sweet” draws on the symbolism of bees, honeycomb, and wings to explore the fragility and strength of beauty, freedom, and femininity.

The central figure — poised yet introspective — is framed by delicate white flowers and sketchlike angel wings, echoing the accompanying handwritten quote:
"The fate of all things sweet is beauty, as is freedom to those with wings."

The glowing backdrop merges soft peach with golden amber, symbolising both sunrise and surrender — a return to self. The honeycomb texture was hand-applied, the wings sketched in charcoal, and the bee is rendered in oil pastel with layered textures and pen highlights. The work captures a moment of flight, identity, and inner stillness.

Artist Bio

Stephanie Kutty is a Gold Coast–based visual artist whose practice is intuitive, emotionally layered, and process-led. Working primarily with painting and mixed media, her work explores themes of memory, embodiment, longing, and the quiet symbolism found in everyday life. Influenced by storytelling, myth, and shifting inner landscapes, her paintings often emerge through slow, responsive mark-making rather than fixed outcomes.

With a background in performance and narrative-based work, Stephanie approaches painting as a form of visual storytelling—one that prioritises feeling over perfection and presence over polish. Her practice is shaped by domestic rhythms, light, and the body’s emotional memory, allowing each work to unfold organically. Through colour, texture, and symbolic form, she creates pieces that invite reflection, intimacy, and resonance.

Stephanie’s work sits at the intersection of intuition and craft, offering viewers a space to pause, feel, and reconnect with their own inner worlds.
