Artwork Description

This piece explores the invisible, draining forces that tug at our lives. It offers an intimate look at the moment a woman’s softest parts—her love, her happiness, and her very best self—are pulled away. It depicts a delicate soul who has given everything until there is nothing left to hold onto.

The figure is caught in a moment of total surrender with her head tilted back as her heart is laid on the line. You can see the vibrant goodness of her spirit, shown through bright yellows and deep reds, being forcefully swept out into the dark. It is a visualization of that hollow feeling when you’ve loved so much that you’ve accidentally let someone drain the light right out of you.

Artist Bio

Stephanie Long is a Gold Coast–based artist whose work centres on emotional healing, self-connection, and the quiet processes of inner transformation. Through murals, painting, and mixed media, her practice explores the unseen layers of the human experience—memory, vulnerability, resilience, and renewal.

Painting from lived experience, including motherhood and personal healing journeys, Stephanie creates work that invites pause and reflection. Her visual language is intuitive and expressive, using layered forms, symbolic imagery, and deliberate linework to reflect the complexity of emotional growth and the restoration of the self.

Her work aims to foster emotional connection and presence, transforming environments into spaces that support reflection, healing, and belonging.
