I am a self-taught artist. I started painting towards the very end of 2014. When I say "started" I mean that I literally woke up one day late December that year and felt compelled to paint. I had no idea what to do – the last couple of times I had painted would have been in primary school, and once in an art class in high school. With thanks to the many wonderful artists posting “how to” painting tutorials I learned about the different paint mediums, figured out that at the time I was probably best suited to acrylic paint (… paint, water, quick drying – got it!), bought some supplies and started putting paint to canvas, paper and Masonite board. Since then, I have learned how to use other painting mediums.
I don’t have a set style of painting. The image, my painting style, the medium I use and what I paint on all depends on how I feel on the day, and 99% of the time I finish a piece of work in one sitting. Sometimes I take a hiatus from painting all together and will use quilting as my way to create art (images are on my Instagram).
