This work aims to interpret the iconogarphy artists of the past, but with my twist. Jesus is shown naked since there was no intention to preserve his dignity in a crucifixion. His cross has a shape that some believe was in use at the time. Physically he is drawn & emaciated from his suffering, as he was sometimes portrayed in Renaissance art. The gold leaf is cut at various locations & oozes blood, hence the title 'Blood Icon'.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I am a retired professional, but since my teens I've been an avid photographer & sometimes painter, & with retirement I can now pursue these creativities more often.
I'm now keenly active in digital photography (but hope to get back to film one day), pottery, & painting. I'd describe part of my approach to these as 'quirky' - I try to do
my own thing. Sometimes viewers may not get what I'm saying & I'm OK with that, as long as they wonder what it is. I look at other peoples' art & find some of these speak
(something) to me, and I hope people get that same reaction to my works.
