Artwork Description

One of a series of paintings mimicking cigar box lid paintings from the late-19th C (here, painted on plywood & mounted in hardwood frame to simulate cigar box).
One of cigar smokers' fantasies is that the best cigars are rolled on the thighs of Cuban virgins, as depicted here.

Artist Bio

I am a retired professional, but since my teens I've been an avid photographer & sometimes painter, & with retirement I can now pursue these creativities more often.
I'm now keenly active in digital photography (but hope to get back to film one day), pottery, & painting. I'd describe part of my approach to these as 'quirky' - I try to do
my own thing. Sometimes viewers may not get what I'm saying & I'm OK with that, as long as they wonder what it is. I look at other peoples' art & find some of these speak
(something) to me, and I hope people get that same reaction to my works.
