This is one of a beautiful set of four japanese coffee cups. It's a beautiful thing to have morning coffee from one of these delicate tactile cups.

For this painting I was concentrating on keeping the viewpoint close up, the colours warm, and the picture plane broken into large abstract shapes. And as always, values, values, values. This is what makes the highlights on the edges of the lip of the cup read properly.

I can see this painting warming up a home.
