Artwork Description

As a child, I was caught in devastating fires in Tasmania which destroyed one-third of the state. Our family's house in Taroona was a survivor, facing the Derwent River while the fires roared down the hills behind, attacking some properties then leaping over others. Many lives were lost and thousands left homeless. This painting is a tribute to resilience - a single water sprinkler the symbol of optimism in the face of adversity.

I paint streets, landscapes, portraits and other things that capture me.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
