Artwork Description

I’ve often wondered about the Canary Island Date Palm that stands alone on Sydney Harbour’s Fort Denison. I wonder who planted it and why (apparently there were originally two). What would the original people of this harbour have made of it? And what would they've made of their rocky island known as Muddawahnyah being razed to sea level to build a defence, ironically against invasion.

Artist Bio

I paint streets, landscapes, portraits and other things that capture me.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
