Redfern Rooftop with Lemons and Rosemary

Redfern means a lot of things to different people. To some it means a new home and a rooftop terrace with rosemary and lemons. While others it means losing their traditional homes to high-rise apartments. The rapidly changing skyline is also casting new shadows over the densely built suburb. The potted plants in the late afternoon sun may struggle to survive under the looming shadows cast by acquisition and development.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
