Something in the Air

For over a century, the Bells Hotel has been a local landmark in Woolloomooloo Bay, Sydney. It has remained largely unchanged while the suburb’s maritime and working-class history has been slowly replaced by restaurants and up-market housing. The pub’s suspended awning appears to float in the air above the bay as the sun rises behind the graceful finger wharf. The two buildings stand today as a tribute to those who fought to preserve them.

I paint streets, landscapes, portraits and other things that capture me.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
