Artwork Description

The Unicorn Hotel on Oxford Street in Sydney's Paddington is an iconic local pub that’s been boarded up and abandoned, after having its heart ripped out (literally). The heritage-listed interior of the hotel has been gutted, apparently without proper development consent, leaving little more than a hollowed-out facade. A sign on a window says “The Unicorn is getting a freshen up!”

I paint streets, landscapes, portraits and other things that capture me.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
