When the Wind Blows

A nineteen-thirties art deco block of flats sits tucked behind a contemporary apartment building. Washing hangs along the rooftop clothes lines drying freely in the breeze, while the modern building relies on a clothes dryer in every unit. The new balconies are too small for drying clothes … even if it was permitted in the strata by-laws. I paint streets, landscapes, portraits and other things that capture me.

My artist journey began with an early passion for painting before following a career in television and film where I've created soundtracks for many of Australia's best known television shows and award winning productions. In recent years I've returned to my original love of painting.

I’m drawn to the often overlooked moments of emptiness or disquiet within urban environments and aim to evoke some response or humour through much of my work. I also like to explore at the imbalance, or sometimes tension, between the constructed and natural worlds.
