Steve Barwell was born in 1954 in Sydney. He is a professional artist living on North Stradbroke Island.
Steve’s work has been exhibited at Chandler Coventry Gallery, Barry Stern Gallery and Robin Gibson Gallery.
His work is included in the collections of The Regional Gallery of Western Sydney, New England University, Queensland University and Philip Bacon Brisbane.
Steve’s work featured in art shows, including This Is Australia Printemps in Paris, Outback NYNY, and Xmas at Bondi at The Art Gallery of NSW.
He is a former finalist of The Wynne Prize. After graduating from art college, Steve was the cartoonist for The Stay In Touch column at Sydney Morning Herald.
Steve grew up in Sydney and attended Newington College. He studied art at Newcastle Art School in the 1980s.
