I worked at Old Sydney Town, a theme park that no longer operates, and I was part of the daily street theatre programme that involved us playing soldiers and convicts, which usually degenerated into farcical humour. This is an authentic representation of the costumes made for us, which were based on historical pictures. In the background you can see the Government Bonded store and the recreation of the brig Perseverance, which floated on the man made lake that played the part of Sydney Cove. The theme park still exists in Somersby, NSW, yet is now overgrown with weeds and unaffected by visitors. Soon they may bulldoze what is left of the buildings that, while were recreations, still reflect the history of a 1970s theme park was as unruly and disorderly as the early days of Sydney really were. There is scratch in the left top hand corner of the picture. It's with acrylics and on unframed cardboard. There are two other paintings in this "set" based around a crazy parallel universe of colonial Sydney that emerged from a unique theme park. All sold separately and the trio is in the additional picture.
