Artwork Description

This picture is of my young daughter standing in front of the Stravinsky fountain, Beaubourg in Paris.
Her little red riding hood coat compliments the bold colours and abstract shape of the elephant and round horn shapes that sing to her. I intentionally stylised Lucy without facial features , a 'blank slate.' Imprint your thoughts onto her.

Artist Bio

Steve Miller is a Western Australian artist whose vibrant paintings explore the connection between landscape, memory and perception. Inspired by the distinctive light, colours and atmosphere of Western Australia and beyond, he creates expressive interpretations of coastal environments, buildings, vast landscapes and dramatic sunsets. Influenced by surrealism and symbolic imagery, Miller has developed a distinctive visual language that combines bold colour, organic forms and flowing black line work. His work reflects the idea that our understanding of place is often complicated and dynamic. He captures feelings and experiences through symbols, silhouettes and abstract forms. Black lines connect and define spaces while rhythmic marks introduce movement and energy. Human figures occasionally appear within dreamlike landscapes blurring the boundaries between people and place. Through colour, symbolism and layered meaning, Miller invites viewers to reflect on their relationship with the Australian landscape, its histories, and the stories, emotions and connections it holds.
