Artwork Description

Having just seen a news piece about Rupert Murdoch and his latest engagement, I was motivated to paint this portrait. As with so many people, I have mixed feelings about this man who built an empire having started with a small evening newspaper in Adelaide, on the other hand his ruthless approach to doing business appals me.

This painting is textured from the top to the bottom. The texture blends with, and enhances the face. The use of black is intentional as a way of depicting news print.

Framed in Victorian Mountain Ash, this is a fairly large piece that will definitely make a statement.

Artist Bio

I'm a visual artist, based in Adelaide. I mainly work in acrylics, but I also do some watercolor pieces. I'm always looking for new subjects. You would mostly call my work impressionism and sometimes expressionist.

For me, making a piece of art is always an experiment, a journey. I rarely know what the final outcome will be. I look for ideas from the environment, photographs and simple life events. I start with an idea, and let the painting take me to a conclusion. This adds excitement and stimulation to my work.

As a self-taught artist, I learn every day. I try to improve on every piece that I create. I am passionate and dedicated, and I try to paint every day.

Thank you for visiting my bio.
