I live in Canberra Australia and have been making artworks for more than 15 years, initially as a printmaker (largely screenprinting), but most recently as a painter, first in acrylic but now in oils.
My work has a deep connection to place, and often dislocation, occasionally
referencing the south coast of England, especially the Isle of Wight where I grew up. In recent years my work has focused more and more on my emotional responses to the Australian landscape —to my home as a migrant.
The works are not specific locations; they are moments, fragments or glimpses, some drawn on memory but now more often exploring the present local environment and celebrating simple and mundane experiences, seeking certainty and calm in an uneasy ‘home’ landscape.
I have exhibited regularly in Canberra and Melbourne.
