The subject of this piece of limited-edition photographic art is the former Brighton Municipal Offices and Council Chambers in Brighton Victoria. The building was opened in 1961 and draws inevitable comparisons to the Gugenheim Museum in New York and even the Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome. It is just a stone’s throw from the original Brighton Town Hall.
I was unaware of this beautiful building’s existence until I stumbled across it while researching Melbourne town halls for a future project. I knew then that I had to visit and capture this amazing architecture.
The building is no longer home to the municipal offices but it is still in use today as a public library and for official gatherings.
