Artwork Description

"Frida's Vision," this piece is a vibrant homage to the spirit of Frida Kahlo, capturing her essence through a modern lens. At the heart of this acrylic painting is the unmistakable gaze of Kahlo, her eyes a window to a soul that defied norms and embraced individuality. Her signature unibrow and piercing eyes are framed by a riot of colors and patterns, a nod to her Mexican heritage and her own use of bold imagery in art.

The canvas is alive with the energy of nature, a hallmark of Kahlo's work, where lush botanicals and fauna symbolize growth and resilience. The presence of dripping paint gives a contemporary twist, reflecting the tears and pain that Kahlo expressed through her art, turning suffering into beauty.

Artist Bio

As an artist who has traversed an unusual path through the realms of science, law enforcement, education, and entrepreneurship, my life's work is a testament to the power of relentless curiosity and the pursuit of authenticity. From my early days, immersed in the intricacies of the natural world, to the adrenaline-fueled nights of a beat officer, and the nurturing environment of teaching, Every phase of my journey has contributed its distinct mark to the unfolding narrative of my life.

Today, I stand before the easel, not just as a creator but as a conduit of experiences, channeling a lifetime of observations, questions, and reflections into my art. My work is rooted in the philosophy of Absurdist Materialism – a perspective forged from the analytical mind of a scientist and the existential musings of an artist. In a universe indifferent to our quests for meaning, my art becomes a defiant act of creation, a space where meaning is made, not found.

Emerging from a childhood fascination with the power of imagery and an adolescence committed to challenging societal norms through counter-culture art and Ad-Busting, my artistic journey was unexpectedly catapulted by an unconventional ally. A transformative project on a prominent wall in Brisbane’s vibrant West End not only shifted my nocturnal endeavors into the daylight but also opened a gateway to a new phase of public commissions and the establishment of my own studio and gallery space.

My art is an amalgamation of my life’s roles—each piece a convergence of scientific precision, the adrenaline of a chase, the patience of a teacher, and the hospitality of a café owner. It embodies a philosophy that sees art as the ultimate expression of being, a tangible testament to moments lived fully and passionately.

I offer my art as an invitation to explore the absurdity and beauty of existence, encouraging viewers to find their own meanings and reflections within the strokes and colors.

Thank you for engaging with my journey through art. Each piece is a segment of myself, etched into reality, standing defiantly against the void, a reminder that even in an indifferent universe, creation is our most profound rebellion.
