As part of the Kata series, this is a single frame, long exposure photograph.
The techniques and ideas have been around for over 100 years. In very simple terms, it is moving some sort of light source to โdrawโ or paint within the frame of a single long exposure photograph.
With this particular field of photography, I believe that explaining the โhowโ with technical details detracts from the work, Iโd rather you enjoyed the art. So the above, is how iโll leave it. There are loads of places in the internet to find out the mechanics if you are interested.
I like the idea of the mystery of creation.
Created in my home studio, love the contrast here. my vision for this is one of a set of long landscapes, maybe in an office or workspace - this is the third of the Kata series.
Kata is described as being a series of choreographed movements within Japanese martial arts. Not to belittle these physical art forms, i have often described the way of creating these light paintings as 'dancing around in the dark like a ninja in my black clothes!'
I recommend an Acrylic FaceMount as a frameless frame (contact me if you would like to discuss framing in more detail). I offer this unframed to allow for personal preference and and style. Personally again, i've chosen this size, i think the subject and medium lends itself to being on the larger size. As a photograph, i have flexibility with sizing, so please get in touch if you have other ideas.
If this isn't quite what you are looking for but you like the style, please do get in touch, commissions are more than welcome, let's work together.
