This Thing Covid is an abstract text, acrylic painting referencing COVID-19. Previously, I completed 3 small geometrical paintings using metallic gold, silver, and bronze paint infused into earth colours. I then mixed a lot of acrylic medium into the colours to render them translucent.
I was so happy with the finished artworks that I decided to paint a large-scale painting with the same colours. COVID had just hit our shores and Sydney was stuck in lockdown, and I was angry, so I decided to vent on the canvas. This painting is truly another unique and original painting and it would spark up a conversation. Just for fun - how many squares do you think are in this artwork?
I can assure you, it took forever to paint... because the paint was translucent, most squares required 3 coats!
