Artwork Description

My influence for this quiet pastel coloured leaf painting were all the bush walks and footpaths around home which lead me to see such a variety of leaves in all shapes and sizes that are so fascinating in their endless variety. They litter the pathways and bush floor and shout out in all their colours. You know this is a common theme for me but I’ve taken it right back to the essential elements of the leaves and chosen to celebrate them in a simple impressionistic way. This is a light filled happy piece of art that says Australia to me and I hope it echoes with you too. Framed view is for illustration purposes only.

This is a substantial piece of art that would suit a large wall in an entrance way, lounge or living room or above a large bed. A complementary natural oak frame would finish this piece beautifully however the sides are tastefully finished to suit the painting which also suits it’s simple nature.

Artist Bio

My work is an expression of my deep connection to nature, drawn from the subtle beauty I encounter in my daily walks through the Australian landscape. The fleeting yet profound moments I find in local plants, flowers, and gardens are at the heart of my practice. I am inspired by the delicate, often overlooked details that, when observed closely, reveal the resilience and vibrancy of life. These small but significant finds serve as the foundation for my abstract floral and landscape paintings.

In my art, I aim to celebrate the essence of nature—not through realistic depictions, but through bold, abstract forms that elevate the quiet energy of plants and gardens. My work reflects my reverence for nature’s intricate beauty, and my desire to bring attention to the often-hidden wonders of the natural world. Each painting is an exploration of how the landscape speaks to me: it could be the subtle play of light on a petal, the curve of a leaf, or the rhythm of growth that occurs just beneath the surface.

My practice is not only about capturing what I see, but also about fostering a dialogue between the internal and external landscapes—the emotional response I feel as I encounter these living forms, and the way nature’s rhythms mirror our own human experience. Through color, texture, and abstraction, I seek to convey the layers of meaning and connection I feel with the natural world, offering viewers a space to pause and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us.

Ultimately, my work is a tribute to the natural world, an attempt to elevate the often unnoticed moments in our everyday lives, and an invitation for others to see and appreciate the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary.
