Water,Seascapes and River Art

Whether the painting is a seascape or view of a river or reflections in water, I find this subject comforting to paint and enjoy creating the watery effects. I love the drama and passion that can be captured with the big skies that sometimes form over the sea. I have a number of traditional pieces in this collection that draw on the cololurs of Turner and some essential Australian waterscenes. Some are river scenes from a holiday cruising on the waterways of Europe where there is a classic beauty to some of the scenes. I some I have used broken colours to enhance the story of the art. I hope you enjoy this collection.

This is a view between two banks of tall trees to the distant river and mountains in all their blue and mauve finery. The afternoon sun is catching the edges of the trees and the grass on the near hill. The fiery red gold shines through. A peaceful country scene.

A glowing golden sky with reflection of colours in the clouds and on the floating waves. There is a hint of K’gari Fraser Island to the left as the boat set out across the calm waters. You can almost hear the lapping waves and feel the warmth of the sun.
