Afternoon Break

The sun is hiding behind the clouds the surfer is walking into the water anticipating the best wave of the day.
This is such a common scene along the beautiful beaches of the Australian coastline.
Usually the tradies will sneak in a surf before heading home from work especially when the swell is huge .
I’ve used a mix of blue, grey and white to keep the pallet minimal thus keeping the painting a subtle effect

I have lived in Torquay all of my life, being surrounded by the beauty of the beaches the motivation to paint was never to far away.
I find inspiration not only from my local area but also from places that I have visited.
My work often reflects my travels, the laneways, houses, the history that are part of everyday life of the town and its people.
I particularly love the beaches, the rocks, cliff faces, the way that colour changes not only with the light, but from state to state and country to country.
