Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

It’s twilight at the beach,
We were enjoying our last walk on the beach whilst on holidays and I noticed this group of seagulls they actually looked as though the three of them were being mean to the lone gull. Perhaps it was the one that got the last chip.
The waves are crashing out the back and the rocks have formed a break from the surf giving still and tranquil waters in the shallows.

Walking along the cliff tops on a misty spring morning the painting shows the foliage on the side of the dunes, a meandering path that winds it way along ,and the low tide of the ocean below It’s a cold crisp morning, the viewer is looking down over the coastal shrubs to the Rockpool’s below. It’s very low tide, the moss is visible on the rocks, the sand is showing through the shallow still water, with just a trickle of waves rolling in. The water is painted in a turquoise, blue with the grasses in soft brown, olive. Coastal shrubs are in blue, grey with a few little pops of pale yellow. The painting is of a view along the cliff top of a beach, in the foreground is the coastal shrubs overlooking the low tide that exposes the rocks and moss in the shallows of the sea. It’s a slightly foggy morning so there is a mist on the ocean. The cliff leads the eye along the beach to the bluff in the distance.
The colour pallet is in pastel turquoise, blue sky and ocean. With brown, green grasses and a mix of colours in the shrubs.

At the end of the day at the beach the sun is peaking out from behind the clouds casting sun rays in all directions. Some of the rays are shining down onto the water whilst others are lightning up a beautiful flock of seagulls that are flying off through the air.
The painting is in beautiful shades of grey and blue toning with crisp white of the waves and sun rays.
Typical of a day at the beach, in the distance you can see the land on the other side of the bay., whilst in the foreground the waves are rolling in and breaking over and round the rocks on the shore.
By using the pale blue of the sky to the darker blue of the deeper water and the warm glow of the sand the painting would sit well with the tones in most homes. The painting would capture the viewer and lead them to a place that we all enjoy On a table top there is a stack of old books that have a rust coloured pottery vase of beautiful white flowers sitting on top , there is another stack of books leaning upward to one side and another rustic on the opposite end that is empty..
