Sue DesBrosses is an experienced designer who takes photographs and paints to further explore the world around her. Sue’s knowledge of design and aesthetics informs every composition where she considers shape, colour, balance, contrast and harmony.
‘Photography and painting are meditative practices, which enable me to truly ‘see’ what’s in front of me.’
Sue was awarded the Licenciateship honour (LAPS) from the Australian Photographic Society for exhibiting at national and international level. She won a gold medal in Austria in 2013 for her entry in ‘Children of the World’ and her photographs have also been shown in America and the Middle East.
In 2013, Sue was awarded an Arts Queensland grant to examine the concept of community and place, resulting in ‘Stories From Hear’, a photographic and oral history exhibition with portraits of ordinary people whose work benefits their community.
Her photographs were included in a 2013 exhibition ‘Awesome & Endangered’ and her acrylic paintings featured in the 2006 & 2007 Downlands exhibition.
Sue taught drawing, drafting and design at Queensland University of Technology for 14 years. Her recent photographs are from a solo bike tour through Europe.
