I am a self-taught mosaic artist . Architect Antonio Gaudi inspired the beginning of my mosaic journey. With thirty yearsโ experience embedded in community I take inspiration from a love of the natural environment from the south-east of South Australia to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and now, back again to the Onkaparinga, South Australia where I lived during my teenage years.
Sourcing and collecting of found, recycled and new materials are an important part of my practice. Texture and colour invite people to touch and feel the mosaic.
My creative thoughts find their way onto varied surfaces. Since moving to Adelaide I'm currently experimenting with ceramic and mosaic together. Mosaic commissions can be found in objects and installations, in community classes, in homes, businesses and public commissions all over Australia and beyond. One of my biggest achievements was in the Cooroy RSL, Sunshine Coast Qld. when I was taking photos of a large mirror in reception I was commissioned to do 20 years ago, I was asked to design and mosaic 3 large outdoor mosaics which went on to be acknowledged and reported on National channel 7 news in 2020.
