Artwork Description

I was inspired to paint The SS Dicky after living on the Sunshine Coast. Dicky Beach was our favourite beach and was named after The SS Dicky which washed ashore 4th February 1893. Sadly the wreck was removed in July 2015 as it had rusted so much it was a danger to beach goers.

Artist Bio

Sue’s primary practice is acrylic and mixed media paintings, but she also enjoys charcoal drawing, along with oil and soft pastel, and watercolour painting. Her other interests lie in mixed media sculptures, wood being the primary medium with the addition of found objects - her small contribution to reducing landfill.

As a self-taught artist who sees drawings and paintings in everything she looks at, Sue dreams about art becoming her full-time career. This has become even more important to Sue having had to face her mortality while hospitalised in 2020 due to a life-threatening medical incident, resulting in her withdrawing from her MA(VisArts).
