I have called my new series "stillscapes" because I am rethinking the genre of still life; giving it a new twist by fusing still lifes with portraits and landscapes. On another level, I am working each day in my studio dreaming wistfully of visiting far off places ....

Artist Bio

"Painting people in engaging or intriguing situations is my passion; I love painting vibrant and detailed works every day." Sue's figurative and sometimes quirky paintings present human experiences sometimes inspired by other cultures and by her life and travels in Australia and overseas. Her realist art has Pop Art and Abstract stylistic influences. Sue studied visual arts at the Queensland College of Art and holds Fine Arts degrees from the University of Queensland and the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Sue was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2024 for her contributions to the Arts as an artist and administrator. Sue is the winner of the 2023 John Villiers Outback Art Prize. She has held solo exhibitions in Queensland and her work is represented in the public collections of CQUniversity Australia; the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville; the Qantas Founders Museum, Longreach; and the Outback Regional Gallery, Winton.
