Artwork Description

Whenever we have guests we visit the glorious Waterfall Way on route to Bellingen and Dorrigo and we pass various dilapidated sheds. I wonder about the historical struggles that farmers had in the past.
Yesteryear would look lovely framed in recycled timber.

Artist Bio

Sue Trefz is a self-taught artist whose passion for capturing the beauty of the world began after her retirement in 2016. Although she had recognised her natural ability for art at an early age, it wasn’t until her retirement that Sue was able to fully dedicate herself to her craft.
Her artistic journey began with watercolour, where she found a particular affinity for realistic portrayals of life and still-life subjects. Over time, as she accompanied her husband on quiet hours spent trout fishing in serene and picturesque locations, Sue's artistic focus expanded. Inspired by the landscapes and the ever-changing light, she transitioned to oils, finding that the medium allowed her to express herself in a looser, more fluid style.
Sue has, on two occasions won the Peoples’ Choice at Woolgoolga Art Gallery. Her first being a watercolour painting of a Sikh gentleman and more recently an oil of Lake Eucumbene, NSW.
Working from photographs she captures during her outdoor excursions, Sue uses light to create depth and emotion in her paintings, breathing life into each piece. Her art is a reflection of her belief that “art is the result of a well-lived life.”
