Artwork Description

"Summerfield" is painted with a limited palette which always ensures that the colours harmonize well.
I was interested in creating an almost oriental look through sparse simplicity and gestural shapes.
Overall it is a vibrant and expressive painting that is full of visual surprises.

Artist Bio

Ever since I can remember I have used my hands to create, and nowadays the need to express myself is constant. I find the challenge of creating a work both stimulating and delightful as I explore the boundless possibilities of paint.
My work is a combination of painting processes and pure chance, as each work takes on a life of its own, presenting a unique puzzle for me to solve. It’s as if the painting itself begins to guide me.
As I paint intuitively, I am free to explore both remembered and imagined places, inviting the viewer to linger a while, to look deeper, to enjoy passages of paint, and to interpret the work in any way. Ultimately my aim is to capture something unique for that viewer.
My colour palette is informed largely by my interest in interior design, but can also develop from a need to convey an emotion or deeper meaning. I love to explore colour and to use all the amazing properties of acrylics, oils and watercolours in the hope that I can bring joy to my audience.
My paintings can be found in independent galleries, homes across Australia and overseas and have been featured on the television series “Love It or List It Australia”.
I regularly conduct painting workshops where I am privileged to encourage a love of painting in my students. I also enjoy immersing myself in the art world through experiences such as styling homes with my art and becoming an Artist in Residence.
My network of collectors and friends has grown through my participation in many art shows, exhibitions and arts trails. These events strengthen my desire to share art in a welcoming and non- judgmental way.
I keep my own art journey fresh and enlivened by attending events and workshops provided by my favourite artists and by visiting galleries….necessary food for the soul of an artist.
