Making Chai

This is one of a series of still lifes. I wanted to experiment with a warm and nourishing palette, and abstracted shapes and to juxtapose that with more realistic looking elements.

The objects are from my home but the abstracted backgrounds mean they could be anyone's kitchen. I'm interested in how our homes can be very similar yet very different.

Please note: this work is on paper and as it is should be framed under glass. It will fit a standard 11'X15" frame.

I can also finish this with a varnish and mount on a board so it doesn't have to be displayed under glass if you prefer for an extra fee.

Light transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. When you see the light in something, you discover it's beauty.

To me, watercolour painting is about capturing the light, letting it shine. Both the light on the subject and the light reflecting off the paper through the paint. This reveals the beauty in the everyday.
