Nature and particularly the ocean are primary influences on her art. Other work focuses on grief and joy and the complexity of the emotions we experience as human beings. Another major interest is the weather and synoptic charts. Recent work draws on Susy’s Finnish heritage and her maternal Grandmother’s woven wall hangings and fag rugs. Susy has exhibited in many shows both group and solo and makes art because she has to. Her studio time is limited though, due to the responsibilities of life with a disabled loved one.
