Artwork Description

Greens browns and a bit of black and the warm glow of amber, creating a painting of a whimsical place.
A place where you can dream and be peaceful, while the dragonflies hover over the reeds of the marsh.
A nature inspired place of calm and tranquillity. I never start a painting with a preconceived idea, this one has taken me to another place than I usually am. I'm not sure what that may mean, but I think I'm have projected a calmness and a feeling of tranquillity and mindfulness. I hope you can see it too.

Artist Bio

I grew up on a farm in a small rural town in Victoria, Australia.
I now live in Wodonga, Victoria.
Having a career in art and design was not the norm back in the 70's, so I became a nurse then a midwife, which was wonderful career. But I still painted when ever I could.
Interior Design was another of my passions, which I studied for a for a short time in 2011.

I've been paining most of my life... painting is an expression and a feeling, a mood and discovery of textures and movement.
My work has been commissioned and sold and. It hangs in many homes across Australia
I've had gallery showings at Wodonga Taffe and highly commended work at this year's Alexandra Rotary Art Show.
Usually I paint with acrylic on canvas, using several textural mediums, with a palette knife or what ever I can find to create with.
Some of my work is quite tactile, and an expression of a mood or feeling. Sometimes inspired by nature and life's " roller coaster" ride.
I would call my Art" Expressionistic", evoking a mood.
I hope to create feelings in the observer and the sensation of wanting to touch my work. Feeling connected with the Art...
Mostly, I never "attack" a painting with any preconceived plan it just tends to happen, and if it doesn't, then try, try again.
I hope my work can give you a feeling, of bright cheerfulness, a contentment, a happiness.
