When bush walking and doing wildlife photography it is always the fallen down gums that often have the most bird life in them and they at eye level to see which makes super photographs, these fallen trees also make suitable homes for smaller creatures as well so it is best to check there no snakes around when sitting or stepping over them. One always notices the Cockatoos first because they are my favourite birds but if you look at the periphery of the camera lens at the not so large and colourful birds you will find the LBJs or Little Brown Jobs- the Thornbills, the female fairy wrens, the tree climbers and they make for fascinating watching too. LBJs are the most difficult to identify with their sounds, movements and locations all being important to correctly ID them- thus the LBJ terminology when you not sure. I wanted to include the reds, eucalyptus greens and deep blues so recognisable in the Australian bush as well in this artwork, it is also one of my largest and the only artwork signed with my full surname. I was also experimenting with different techniques with this canvas using "watercolour acrylics", airbrushing and paint brush textures to get this typical Australian outback feeling.
