I had to have a Fox in the bird Gallery, so here he is just like the Fox in the hen house but what surprised me most was the amazing moment we had watching this little fellow go about his daily business. He trotted along the pathway in broad daylight, pounced into the grass and got a mouse, swallowed that then gave us a "look" before quietly walking away. With photography we always glad to have captured "the look" as we call it for it is almost like verbal communication from the birds and animals we photograph, if only they could talk. This experience was very different to what we had seen before a few years previously at the same location where they had been baiting the foxes as they think they kill too much native wildlife- this one was keeping the mouse population down- great for hygiene control as we had had a mouse in the house too a few months prior to this. The fox we saw then was terrified of humans and in a very weak state. Meeting these animals up close and having their trust is a amazing experience and it does make one wonder if there are not better ways to practice nature conservation. The poor foxes are being terminated in their native country by fox hunters and even when they not in their native country they are too, so they have to be very clever to survive but I can certainly appreciate their beauty and elegance.
