Artwork Description

This is Lola, my son's Burmese and boy does she have "attitude"! I've learnt that the best way to get along with her is to ignore her and then she comes to me when she's ready. She is a beautiful and funny cat. I wanted to try to capture the smoulder in her eyes when she's barely tolerating you! :)

Artist Bio

I don't remember a time when I wasn't painting and drawing. My formal art studies commenced at Julian Ashton’s Art School while I was still in high school and then continued with the Royal Art Society of NSW where I am honoured to be a Fellow of the Society.

I have a strong drawing foundation and work in most media including; charcoal, conte, ink and pencil, oil, pastel, gouache, watercolour and mixed media. I enjoy the freshness and spontaneity of painting directly from life and have a fascination for faces and the human form, sometimes using humour and compassion to highlight the human ethos.

More recently I have taken a more abstract direction and am exploring my love of nature and the rhythms and connectivity of life.

I exhibit in numerous galleries mostly around the Sydney area, in particular, the Royal Art Society’s Lavender Bay Gallery, North Sydney and am privileged to be asked to judge art competitions, teach and run workshops from time to time. I am honoured to have been recently featured in Arts Zine online magazine, November 2024 issue.
