Love Forged
Acrylic & gel on canvas
120cm wide x 76cm high x 3.5cm depth
An intuitive mixed media painting built through layered colour and movement, resulting in a one-of-a-kind work that cannot be replicated.
Love Forged sits within an ongoing exploration of connection — where each work approaches the idea through a distinct visual language shaped by process, material and experience.
My work explores connection as an evolving experience, expressed through multiple visual languages that move between sculptural textile form and expressive abstraction.
Built through layered acrylic and gel, the composition evolves through a process of response rather than control. Each mark is laid down, interrupted, and reworked, allowing the painting to develop its own rhythm. Deep blues, warm copper tones and soft neutrals move across the surface in a balance of disruption and cohesion, reflecting the way connection is often formed through contrast.
Hidden within the composition is the word LOVE, embedded subtly into the structure of the work. It is not immediately visible, requiring time and attention — much like the deeper aspects of connection itself. The work invites the viewer to look beyond the surface, to engage with the layers, and to discover meaning gradually.
This piece reflects an ongoing interest in how emotion is carried within abstraction — how something deeply human can exist within movement, texture and form without needing to be explicitly defined.
Created through an intuitive layering process, each decision informs the next, ensuring the work remains completely unique. The surface holds both energy and restraint, allowing the painting to feel active while still grounded.
Love Forged is designed to hold presence within a space — not only visually, but conceptually. It offers both impact and quiet discovery, revealing more over time.

⸻ ABOUT THE ARTIST
Suzanne Carter is a contemporary Australian mixed media artist based in Tomakin on the NSW South Coast.
Her practice has evolved from a long-standing creative instinct into a focused body of work exploring connection, movement and emotional layering through abstraction. Working intuitively, she builds each piece through a process of response and refinement, allowing the composition to develop its own rhythm and energy.
Suzanne’s current collections — including Botanicals, Woven, Deep Reflections, Exuberance and Koi — explore different expressions of connection, from nature-inspired forms to quiet introspection and bold, energetic movement. Her work often sits between painting and object, particularly within her textile-based pieces, where sculptural elements introduce depth and tactile presence.
An award-winning artist, Suzanne has received Champion and First Prize at the Moruya Agricultural Show and multiple awards including the Royal Canberra Show 2026. Most recently, she was recognised with the Service Art Award at the South Coast Private Hospital Wollongong Art Exhibition, acknowledging artistic achievement and creativity of service personnel.
Her work is increasingly collected for its contemporary presence, emotional depth and ability to transform a space.
