No. 10 — Intuitive Linen Collection

I was created for the moments when staying down would be easier.

The moments when life changes the plan, knocks you sideways or asks more of you than you thought you had left to give.

And yet, somehow, you rise.

At my centre is Faith, a glorious mare captured with energy, strength and determination. She moves amongst layers of vibrant colour and expressive marks, embodying that moment when something within you takes over and says: keep going.

Her name feels particularly fitting.

Because sometimes rising requires exactly that — faith.

Faith in yourself.
Faith that things can change.
Faith that there is still something ahead worth moving towards.

Around Faith, blocks, strokes and drips of colour represent the people, places, experiences and memories that influence who we become. Some enter our lives boldly. Others leave quieter marks. Together, they become part of the story we carry with us.

The exposed raw linen remains visible between them, allowing space for what is still to come. Because our stories are never completely filled in. There is always room for another experience, another connection, another choice and another chapter.

I don’t ask you to be fearless.

I simply remind you that courage can be choosing to rise anyway.

My maker works intuitively, allowing each mark, drip and layer to respond to what came before it. Because of this, my composition could never be recreated exactly the same way twice.

Framed in natural oak, my landscape format and vibrant palette make me particularly suited to an entryway, office, bedroom, reading nook or somewhere you might appreciate a quiet reminder to keep moving forward.

Rather than telling you exactly what to see, each artwork leaves space for your own interpretation — inviting you to consider the people, experiences and connections that have shaped your story

Suzanne Carter is a contemporary Australian mixed media artist based in Tomakin on the NSW South Coast.

Her practice explores connection as an evolving experience, expressed through multiple visual languages that move between sculptural textile form and expressive abstraction. Working intuitively, she builds each piece through a process of response and refinement, allowing compositions to develop their own rhythm, movement and energy.

Suzanne’s current collections — including Botanicals, Woven, Deep Reflections, Exuberance and Koi — explore different expressions of connection, from nature-inspired forms to quiet introspection and bold, energetic movement. Her work often sits between painting and object, particularly within her textile-based pieces, where hand-constructed elements introduce depth, structure and tactile presence.

An award-winning artist, Suzanne has received Champion and First Prize at the Moruya Agricultural Show and multiple awards including the Royal Canberra Show 2026. Most recently, she was recognised with the Service Art Award at the South Coast Private Hospital Wollongong Art Exhibition, acknowledging artistic achievement and creativity of service personnel.

Her work is increasingly collected for its contemporary presence, emotional depth and ability to transform a space, with a growing audience drawn to both her sculptural textile works and expressive abstract paintings
